Surrounded by forests, along the Swiss border, the woodwork museum is situated at an altitude of 1,050 metres in a restored former sawmill. It aims to highlight the village’s identity, which is closely linked to the spruce, the king of the surrounding forests.

It is run by a group of enthusiasts who decided to form an association to keep their village’s heritage alive and pass on the skills of the craftsmen of Bois d’Amont.

The museum’s new exhibition design offers an immersive and engaging experience, an encounter with the people of the Haut-Jura who made the most of the wood’s qualities and reveal a few secrets in these places steeped in history.

Light, sound and projected images are combined to create a vibrant experience. Stories of boxes and caskets of all kinds are told: from clock boxes to cheese boxes and medicine chests…
