The project to create a pedestrian and cycle bridge between the historic centre of Albi and the right bank of the River Tarn addresses mobility issues across the urban area and the management and enhancement of the Episcopal City, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010.
The bridge is built against the 19th-century railway viaduct. It is designed as a 3.40-metre-wide linear route that widens at each of the arches of the historic structure to offer unique views of the Episcopal City.
The clarity and lightness of the new footbridge contrasts with the massiveness and rationality of the viaduct.

At night, the footbridge is designed as an urban promenade: the fixtures, designed to provide an average of 10 to 15 lux on the ground, are attached to the viaduct and illuminate both the linear path and the wider areas, including the rest areas with benches under the arches.
This gives users a feeling of safety when crossing the Tarn, and the footbridge lighting is integrated with the viaduct.
These LED projectors have symmetrical optics, with an aperture adapted to the spacing between light points and the installation height.
Light cannon accessories prevent any light leakage onto the viaduct itself. The 3.40 m wide linear path is lit like a real urban road.
From the Episcopal City on the left bank, the equipment is not visible.
The footbridge is mysteriously illuminated.
