The proposal prioritises uniformity (minimum UO of 0.25) and an average illuminance level of 20 lux on vertical and horizontal circulation routes, with higher localised illuminance in conflict zones, such as at lift entrances or on landings.

The lighting fixtures selected are deliberately miniature in order to blend into the structure’s architecture. They are recessed into the undersides of handrails or metal roofing near the lifts, into the handrails of staircases and ramps, and into the concrete walls of the footbridge.

The lift shafts are transformed into a unique chromatic experience. Like lighthouses, they serve as new urban landmarks for the Vannes conurbation. The dichroic glass in the lift shafts creates a mirror-like effect with changing colours. The hues shift depending on the position of the light source and the viewing angle. The effect works both day and night; the colour of the glass constantly shifts, whether viewed from inside the lifts or from outside – from the ramps of the rotunda and beyond, from the public space.
