A coherent night-time atmosphere
The street lighting proposed for the Gambetta axis also provides functional lighting for the roads around the square. Similarly, the pedestrian masts on the Gambetta walkway are located on the footpaths around the square.
The colourful glade
At the heart of the square, beneath the foliage, a range of lighting systems based on pedestrian masts set the scene around the fountain. RGBW spotlights, mounted on 120mm diameter drums, provide dynamic, colourful lighting under the foliage.
These materials, with their minimalist design, are arranged along the circular peripheral walkway, and in an arc behind the deckchairs to the south of the fountain. The centre of the square is a coloured stage, while the peripheral walkways are lit in white light.
Pre-recorded scenarios are replayed each evening: the mood is less colourful on weekday evenings and more saturated at weekends, and light levels vary throughout the night: they are higher and more animated in the early evening, before calming down to become a standby light in the middle of the night.
